BPM: Standing in the Gap
Dr. Setrag Khoshafian
Vice President of BPM Technology
This
presentation will show how BPM Suites as the core
layer of dynamic organizaitons bridges two important
trends: business trends – that are attempting to
realize business performance efficiencies, with
agility, visibility and transparency; and technology
trends including SOA/WOA/CEP – that are attempting

First Roundtable
Session
The key objective for
these roundtable sessions is to allow attendees to
interact with each other and share perspectives and
experiences. Moderators will start with a very short
introduction of the issues surrounding the topic and
then facilitate a discussion focused on possible
requirements, solutions, methodologies, best
practices, pitfalls, etc. applicable to the topic.
They will also encourage attendees to discuss their
own views, including their needs, potential
solutions, stumbling blocks, etc. |

End-User Case Study: Synopsis of BPM in the Emerging
Health Sciences Extended Marketplace
Eli B. Perlman
Cognizant Technology Solutions EAI Practice and
Strategic Alliances
Throughout
all of Health Sciences, the sheer amount of
available data is exploding exponentially, but the
ability for a human being to assimilate this into
usable knowledge is limited. Health Providers and
Payors, as well as manufactures of Pharmaceuticals,
Biotechnology, and Medical Devices must all deal
with this reality. While this is happening, it is
becoming more common to walk into large retailers
and retail pharmacies to receive basic lab services
to more sophisticated clinical care. In addition,
this causes them all to face additional financial
challenges that include sinking reimbursements and
skyrocketing compliance requirements. Operational
challenges include waste, loss, and increasing human
error due to the volume and the disjointed nature of
the information. And while all this is happening,
there are competitive challenges that require
continuously lowering costs, ever increasing
quality, and easier and more effective self-service
offerings. The purpose of this session is to show
how the combination of Business Process Management (BPM),
Complex Event Processing (CEP), and state-of-the-art
informatics tools and best practice techniques can
be leveraged to allow the healthcare community to
compare and contrast the live data and events in
motion with the data and events at rest to be able
to efficiently and effectively address these
increasing demands both today and well into the
future. |

End-User Case Study: Developing a BPM Center of
Excellence
Paul Tazbaz, Enterprise Architect, Wells
Fargo
Business Process Management (BPM)
continues to gain momentum throughout the enterprise
as an effective solution for optimizing the delivery
of products and services to the customer. Wells
Fargo and the industry overall are now starting to
understand how to maximize the insight gained from
this level of capability and are in the midst of a
paradigm shift in how business solutions are
developed and measured in the future. A diverse set
of process focused initiatives are currently
underway within the bank and as a result, a working
group has been established to socialize efforts
across lines of business with the goal of knowledge
sharing, collaboration and ultimately establishing
an enterprise roadmap that incorporates people,
process and technology standards. Join us as Paul
Tazbaz from Wells Fargo Enterprise Architecture
presents a practical guide to developing a BPM
Center of Excellence in a de-centralized
organization. |
